Crossing things off the list

I'm a list maker.  I need to have a list in front of me to get things done...1.  so I don't forget and have one of those awful senior moments and walk in circles  2.  because I love the sense of accomplishment when I can cross something off!
  •   I get to cross off small gifts for 6 people......that leaves 4 more to do.  I can get that done.
  •   Cheese ball and bread made for Production Team party tonight.....cross that off.
  •   Tree up and decorated......tree is up but not decorated.  No check mark there yet.  Tomorrow for sure.
  •    Mrs. Claus project.....doll quilts delivered to guild, emails sent to Mrs. Clauses everywhere.  Mark it done!....the Christmas dinner is Monday night, so look for the final photos on Tuesday, I hope.
  •  Finish the 2 lap quilts for gifts....they are quilted and just need to be bound and labeled.  I will finish them!   Can't show the fronts, but here is one of the backs.  I really worked on the swirls on them.  Try as I might, I can't get my swirls to look like the ones that Wendy at Ivory Spring does.  I decided to just concentrate on the spacing and keeping it more open and even.

Insight Free motion quilting is like a signature.  My vines, leaves, or swirls are an expression of how my brain speaks through my hands to the fabric and  thread.   I've never been able to follow a drawn line, so how can I expect to duplicate someone else's pattern!   So take heart if you are learning to free motion quilt.....find a pattern, practice on paper, then practice on fabric until you make it your own.
One final thing.....do you applique?  I won this pattern and package of applique needles and want to pass it on to someone who will put them to good use.  Leave me a comment about your last applique project,  must be a follower, and December 4th at 5 pm.  I will pick someone to send this to.
  Back to the list....happy stitching.

And check this off your list too -brought a smile to Lynne and DD's face after opening The Package!

I do applique and didn't even know there were special applique needles - I use embroidery needles!!

Looking forward to seeing the "finished" pictures!

I, too, am a list maker for the same reasons you mentioned.
I am also a newbie to FMQ, and I would be thrilled if I could make mine look as nice as yours!
Alas, I do not applique. : )

I was just telling mysef as I grabbed up my computer tonight that I need to make one because I HAVE been doing a little of a lot of different things so not really FINISHING anything. Ugh! And yes, I really enjoy checking things off. Really like the swirls. Will have to file that away. I do very little applique and already have the needles so I should pass there so that someone else can make better use of them. Generous of you to share, though. :o) I'm off to make my list...

I love the swirls on your quilt. I am going to have to really start practicing in order to get comfortable with free motion. I love the look of it on quilts instead of stitch in the ditch.

My Christmas season list is still in the works...I keep finding more things to do & the list keeps getting bigger! :)

I am a list mkaer as well. I beling to the HGTV Quilting and Needlework Forum and we have so much going on all the time, if I didn't make a list, I would forget half what I am supposed to be doing. :)

Now my grocery list is a different story... I make it but get in the store only to find out I left it laying in the kitchen. lol

I did not like applique in my early quilting years but have grown to really like it. It is a great take along project for when we are traveling. My last applique project was a baby quilt and I used the OH Baby pattern. Little diapers and diaper shirts on a babys body that is turned backward. It is precious! 30's fabrics was a perfect choice for it!

I would love to win the giveaway if you havent drawn a name yet.. I am making a Christmas Stocking for someone on the HGTV Forum as a special surprise and she is an avid appliquer and would love those needles and the pattern

I think your FMQ is excellent. I haven't yet mastered that design, but hope to soon.

Did you know Wendy is one of 12 FMQ experts providing free tutorials in the 2012 Free Motion Quilting Challenge?
