Fall blocks

What says fall better than colorful leaves, pumpkins and geese!

Pumpkin blocks to go with the leaves from Carole at From My Carolina  Home .  Another couple of leaf blocks were finished too.

And geese......colorful geese.  If you have been following my Pinterest boards, you probably noticed all the flying geese quilts I have been pinning.    I caught Bonnie's quilt-cam yesterday afternoon and did some cutting of scraps.  Then I sewed a few test units to see how they looked.

So in an hour I whipped out this huge stack of geese parts.....large and small.  And if I get tired of geese they can become HSTs in two sizes.
I am debating on the design layout....
I have two I am wrestling with.  Of course, I might have enough scraps for both of them.

Oh, yeah.....I did not use the rotary cutter for these.  Life is too short for dull blades, and aching hands.  I broke down and claimed an early birthday present.   Sir Old Man did the initial test drive and proclaimed it safe and easy enough for me to use.    (Just wait until the apple peeler gets here that I ordered......he will get to crank that one.)

I probably won't get much done this week in the sewing room.  I have another PT evaluation this week, as well as the nerve conductivity test on Friday.  The results came back from the neurologist that I have the antibody against the intrinsic factor for B-12......that means this condition is permanent and B-12 shots are forever due to the auto-immune disorder of pernicious anemia.  I expected as much, and accept what is to be.  So if an Accuquilt ---or any other tool----makes it easier for me.....go for it.

In January, I claimed "Enjoy" as my word for the year.  This small  banner hangs on the design wall right in front of me as I sew.  I enjoy every minute in there.....and every minute of life.    I have some finds to share on Friday......till then, happy stitching.

I reckon getting the Accuquilt is the best move for you, I bought one two years ago, wonderful invention. No more inflamed, swollen finger joints etc. I'm sure you'll love it. Enjoy cutting your Flying Geese! Happy to see you're back looking at your Enjoy banner.

I'm glad you are getting tools that will make things more doable for you, Debbie!
These auto-immune issues are life changers, aren't they? I admire that you are making the best of it. We can do that, or make ourselves miserable.
Looking forward to see what you create from all of the parts you have shared here. : )

Sorry about the condition permanent part. Not fun, but, you are learning to cope with it. Enjoy the Accuquilt machine. I didn't get any stitching done while we were away, but, I did get LOTS of fabric.

I bought a studio cutter on the advice of Wanda and I can't believe how easy it cranks. I have been cutting my scraps on it and hoping to buy a few more dies. Thrilled you are not giving up and doing what you love.

Isn't the quilting world wonderful? It's so good that there are tools available to us to make quilting/sewing so much easier. I'm so glad an Accuquilt is going to make your life easier. Quilting is what makes you happy & the tools will make it still possible for you to enjoy your hobby. I'm praying for a good PT evaluation & good test results on Friday.

I'm glad you got a diagnosis so you know what is ahead. Good for you, getting a die cutter. It isn't cheating to have an easier way to cut shapes. I love my die cutter and it has saved my shoulder from lots of pain.

Will continue to pray for good test results, and happy that you have a GO cutter which makes life so much easier for you. If taking the vitamin B injections is going to keep you healthy, then it's a ery small price to pay. Wanda is definitely correct about the shoulder pain.

My computer has been down, so I have missed reading your posts. Your perspective is so uplifting. And besides, you make adorable pumpkins. :) Hooray for Accuquilt and apple peelers; I'm so glad you can have their help. Nothing like a good apple pie, or a quart of homemade applesauce in the middle of winter.
Blessings!

At least you're getting some much needed answers and now have a game plan. I bought a Go cutter as a birthday gift to myself last year and found it very helpful. I have a flying geese project on my to-do list, but need to clear out some UFOs before starting it.

So glad you now have a proper diagnosis so you can move forward to such helpful tools as the Go cutter!!! I don't have one (yet) myself, yet reading about your health journey and looking closely at my own - I think I just added it to my Christmas/birthday wishlist! It's the big 7-0 for me so I think I need a special treat!! I love the Pumpkin blocks and your heart for life!

Interested to see how you like your Accuquilt, and if you get a lot of use out of it. Of course I love the fall things--pumpkins, geese and leaves! :o) I like you're "Enjoy" for the word of the year. I found myself choosing to focus on "looking for beauty" [TRUE beauty] in all things this year which is a little similar. I kind of slacked off over the summer but I am trying to get back at it. There is just so much to be negative and joyLESS about right now and it can become so distracting, effecting our moods, health etc. I may just use my phrase again for 2017, too.
