New email addy

Email Graphic Graphic email graphic

This is a rant, so you might want to ignore me.
This is to say.....we will soon delete/remove/throw into the nether land of waste our old email for a new one.  I have set up a new one and attached it to the side bar.  If you leave comments they will come to my new address.  If you are a follower that I routinely converse with, it is an easy change.  Remove the "bellsouth.net" and replace it with "gmail.com".

I am at the end of my rope/line/wi-fi with ATT......5 calls to troubleshoot, an escalation report, 4 different technicians, innumerable messages left-- with no response---and I am making the break with the giant.  I have heard all, every imaginable excuse for our dropped calls, slow speed, no internet connection, no printer connect, no network connect, etc.....we are at the "end of their loop" in the county, squirrels or critters ate the insulation off the wires, you need to have your computer repaired.....on and on.
So the email is the first change....have to be able to pay bills, and other stuff.  Once that is settled, then to get that awful cable company to bring in the internet, and then to dump the phones.   It will take a few weeks or more to return to smooth  connections.  I hate being so wired in.
Thanks......hope to return soon.

Not a rant. I'm with you. We jumped off AT&T for email, many years ago. For internet/cable, we've switched service providers and I must confess we are now in the mode where we realize they don't want long term relationships and what they promise, won't be what they deliver. Sadly, we now shop around annually for whomever can provide the better service, at the best rate. I hate the shopping around. Wish they'd provide good service and commit to a realistic fee vs lead-in fee.

Sadly the providers do not want long term stable customers. I'm afraid we are going to end up with a zillion antennas on our roof. Even if you aren't having problems - but I think all companies have their problems - they will eventually raise their rates higher and higher. Our internet just went up 25% and no one at our company wants to talk to us about staying so we are looking...again :( ~Jeanne

I get what you say - we're down here in New Zealand and have similar problems. We have had a change over and hopefully things will settle down, no more waiting for someone to answer the 'phone in India or the Phillipines - yes, our help line calls to the telephone service provider are dealt with offshore. Hope you're soon in full operational mode!

We did the same, dumped ATT due to high prices and spotty service in our rural area. But the cable company became just as bad, then was bought out by a bigger company that made things worse. Eventually ATT ran fiber optics out our way, and we went back to them for internet only. It has been stable since then, better than satellite too.

I hope you find a stable provider for your internet. I have cable internet and it has been great for years and years. I don't have cable tv or any other provider for television. I found that not having tv made my life better.

So frustrating finding a good provider isn't it!
Good luck : )

We recently switched everything from the phone company (Frontier) because of frequently dropped internet and increasingly poor customer service. We went (reluctantly) to Time Warner cable which is becoming Spectrum. In NY TWC doesn't have much better a reputation, but we at least lowered our costs. As someone else said, it's probably going to turn into an annual search for a better deal. All the companies promise more than they can deliver.

I've been thinking of changing my email from comcast, since I've had so many problems with them since they 'upgraded' the first of the year. I don't want to have to figure out all the places I need to change the email address at, and to learn a new system. What a pain!

Best of luck Debbie, I switched to gmail a long time ago as I kept switching between satellite companies trying to get decent internet and got tired of changing my email address. We are having the same frustration as you with Hughes satellite, I pay $100 a month and it is still terrible most of the time. I so envy people who have high speed internet and can watch Netflix and stuff. Good luck!
