Last blocks

I cut and added the setting triangles on the floral log cabin on the design wall......and realized I was 4 blocks short.  Honestly, I can't seem to count anything correctly any more.

I stitched up the last 4 blocks and they need a good pressing.  So yes!  My adventure for the weekend will be rearranging the whole layout, and beginning to join the rows.
And since I seem to have forgotten how to count, I probably will need to cut another group of setting triangles.  I have the fabric because I bought extra.  A little voice told me so :)
Looking at the calendar, I have kept my focus for the month  as this post said!    That is practically a first for me to not get distracted.

The sewing room has been reorganized and lost bits found.  I did not really move furniture that much, just more of a shifting  for more elbow room.  I kept finding ends and pieces of projects in different boxes.  I emptied 6 of them.  And now......
The string bins absolutely are over flowing.  So I think I need to think about some mindless sewing and making up a big stack of string blocks for future projects.

I added a few more garlic knot blocks to my stack.   I pulled out the 2''' strips from the found leftovers  to make more knots.  I have 30 blocks made so far and at least 20 more sorted to make.

Sir Old Man had the second cataract surgery done this week.  He did very good, and is  being patient about being home and not doing yard work, etc.  By next week he will be able to do his usual routine.   The worse part of this has been getting up at 5 am to be there at 7 am.  Wow, does that mess up my sleep pattern.  But it is done with now, and we will return to regular programming. :)
Thank goodness!
Happy stitching.

Oh, it's going to be a fun weekend playing with those lovely blocks! Don't you love to get everything straightened out and then realize something else like the string bin is overflowing?!!! It does keep us going and sometimes that mindless sewing is just what we need. ~Jeanne

Hmm, looks like I have a lot of blocks to go to catch up. They looks absolutely wonderful! Grateful your husband's eye procedures went well. The garlic knot blocks are great to look at. I love strings also.

It looks great on the design wall. I will enjoy seeing it sewed together and quilted.

Your blog recognizes me again! Yay!
Organizing is fun to an extent and it is fun to empty boxes in the process.

Isn't it good that we quilters have a tendency to 'over-buy, just in case' and we so often need that extra bit, either because of design changes or just plain ole boo-boos! Have a great weekend my friend, I hope the sun shines warm in your neck of the woods!

Such a beautiful quilt, and getting closer to the finish line. It's amazing what cataract surgery can do, to make things clear again. The only negative are all those drops, but a small inconvenience at that.

I'm glad you listened to the little voice that said to buy more of the green fabric! There must be something in the spring air that is suppressing math skills, because I keep cutting things wrong on my latest project, too! How did this 11" piece get cut in half, yet the pieces are 6.5" and 4.5"?? Why am I STILL short 1 yellow block? Sigh.

Your hubby will be so happy with his newly improved sight! Everyone says the world is so bright and clear after cataract surgery :)

I'm so glad you were able to maintain your focus on the log cabin blocks. I got distracted. I made 8 blocks, started another group, but then I had to prep for a class last Saturday. Now I'm working on the homework before the next class. Oh and there was a kids quilt top for Sarah's H2H project thrown in there. I'll get back to the log cabins, but I think I'm going to have to use some of my darks several times as I don't seem to have enough for the outer row.
And we finally had a day of sunshine and enough warmth to shed the winter coat, so I cut down an ornamental grass and tidied up some of the hellebores.

So glad to hear your hubby is doing well after surgery! I know it is a relief to both of you to move past that. (I'm notorious of miscounting too.)

You've been busy! The quilt is coming along beautifully, and I'm enjoying watching the garlic knots emerge on the side. I've been spending more time outside than in these days so not much quilting (though I just pulled another off the frame); feeling the need for some mindless sewing, doing some BOM catch-up, etc! Glad Sir Old Man is doing well--bet he's happy to have that behind him, and you too!

Soemtimes when I reorganize my room I can't find half the stuff I am looking for, glad you found some bits. Lovely quilt.
