I love quilting swirls. They look good on your quilt.<br />As to the thread--I, too, am always hearing about Aurafil, but it was not available around here. Finally a shop started carrying it, so I bought a couple of small spools. Just used it for the first time on a mini last week, and my experience was much like yours. But it is pricey.
