The Blogger's Quilt Festival begins Friday......get your post ready! We went out early this morning for a few new photos for my entry. I love the early light to show the stitching and colors. Follow the link above to read the details. Early thanks to Amy for all her hard work putting the festival together.
I have been taking it slower the last few days.....all the weeds and yard work got to me.
I played around with the border idea on the off set log cabin (faux braid style). I feel like I need a narrow strip to frame the over all design before the border comes into play. The main border is light----a white and tan leaf print.
I found a few blocks....not 9 patch like I thought, but 16 patch. By adding a couple of partial blocks, I can extend the "unfinished point" of the barn raising design. That's on one side.....the rest is yet to come.
I am off to bake bread for a luncheon tomorrow......happy stitching.

From what I can see, that purple border looks like a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI think I can smell the bread baking from here, but since I was just diagnosed with celiac disease, the aroma will have to be enough. : )
I am really looking forward to seeing your entry. Very few things taste as good as fresh, home baked bread. Enjoy your luncheon!
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd come up with the perfect border, the thin purple looks good, can't wait to see the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching for the Festival & your entry. Your Faux Braid Quilt is coming along nicely. I like the idea of the small narrow strip before the main border. Because I've seen you do this on other quilts, I made that suggestion to a quilt board member recently who was looking for suggestions on her baby quilt. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI totally love the extended point you have created past the main body of the quilt. The thin purple border will be very striking. Thanks for the heads up about the Blogger's Quilt Festival Debbie. It will be fun seeing your entry there!
ReplyDeleteOh wow - you are a bread baker! That is something I have only just started to do - mainly at holidays. Our neighbor makes the most wonderful homebaked bread and she and I might trade lessons: I teach her to do applique, she teaches me to bake bread.
