I broke the scanner

Yesterday was the hand evaluation with occupational therapy.  Let's just say I failed the tests.  A quick summation would be severe loss of protective and productive sensations in both hands.    And now we add, numbness in the left leg and both feet.    In general, they think it is compression of the nerve  in my neck.  More tests are ordered but I will be doing OT for the shoulder and neck area as of next week.

I was to have the CT scan of the neck today for the vascular surgeon.  I was on the table, IV  in arm, and the machine died.   Guess I scared it too :)    So, things are rescheduled in 2 weeks.   I will just concentrate on the ot/pt for now.

Sir Old Man needs a break from the stress, so I will try to be good.  And I will try to take photos of a surprise  from the workshop.  It is a beauty.
Stitch a few happy stitches for me.

  1. Tests are no fun and rescheduling isn't fun either. I hope the OT works and that you will regain some feeling.

  4. I wish they could have rescheduled for earlier, having it all set to go then not doing the scan just adds to your stress. I expect Sir Old Man to be making lots of beautiful things since that's his mental escape, shoo him out there as often as you can. Tell him we all need beautiful wooden quilt blocks :)

  6. Good morning Debbie......It sure sounds as though you are having the same problem compression problem my son just had surgery for, and the good new is that he came through with flying colors and is doing very well. A good neurosurgeon will work wonders and I am praying that if surgery is the answer, that you have the same outcome as he did.

  9. Oh, how annoying to have the scanner not work and then to have to wait so long to reschedule. We'll all send positive thoughts your way. No need to reply, just wanted you to know you have well wishers out here.

  10. Oh sweetie - not good. Stay positive, get rest, do your pt - and I like Dana's idea of Sir Old Man making everyone a wooden quilt block. No need to reply.

  15. Seems like when it rains...it pours! So sorry for the reschedule but hopefully the ot/pt will bring you some relief. Sir Old Man needs a big project to take things off his mind. I can't wait to see what he's sawed up & put back together in his workshop for you. Prayer are still being lifted up for you.

  16. A few years ago I broke the mammogram machine. Smoke, fire department, evacuation of hospital, you name it. Oops! Sorry, my bad.

  17. My goodness, that must have been frustrating.
It is good to get answers, even if we don't like them.
So are they thinking the numbness can be reversed with surgery? My 93-year-old Dad had surgery on his neck for a similar problem when he was about 80. It was very helpful in restoring feeling.
A surprise? Can't wait to see what it was. : )

  18. Our hearts hurt for you, it is so frustrating not only having the issues but having the scanner break down after being all prepped for the test. Waiting is never easy, but we'll be praying for a good outcome from the surgery and therapy. Take care of yourself and we'll look forward to seeing Sir Old Man's new creations too.
