October review and planning ahead

What a month of  busy things......quite a change for me.  I began the month with the display at the guild quilt show.  Along the way I completed a long table runner/door banner with plumes,  stitched together circles for my Therapy Quilt, and made a machine cover/mat for the Featherweight, and......threw together the finish for Let's Book It.

I took stock of the different stacks/piles in the sewing room.  It is like multiple people are working in here.  No plan or organization, just bits of lots of projects.  And therein lies my challenge.  I did not set a plan last month.....I was not fully functioning then.  Those B-12 shots have done wonders for my energy level, and thought processes, so plans are to be made.

  For November:

  •   The circle Therapy Quilt is to be pinned and quilted.
  •   The forgotten Bow Tie color wash flimsy also needs to be pinned and    quilted.
  •   Make labels for both of these quilts.
  •   Pineapple Blossom blocks.....need about 12 more.  Let's Book It project.
  •   Make flying geese blocks as leader/ender project.
  •   Finish cutting batiks into 2 1/2'' squares for future color wash project.

And I must stop there...my rule of three to keep things under control is being dragged out of mothballs.  Three quilts in the works at one time in the sewing room----with small projects allowed, but no other starts until something is finished.    It works for me to keep me focused and on track.....and doesn't let UFOs accumulate.

Thinking time.....I need to decide on a word/phrase for next year.  And set up list of projects to do.....including the color wash of batiks, and a basket quilt for next year.
It is so good to be back.....happy stitching.

  1. And the very best part of your post "Those B-12 shots have done wonders for my energy level .." That is the news all your blogging friends have been waiting to hear, and you've shown us the evidence! So happy for your return to the sewing room and doing what you love!

  2. Super terrific that you are raring to go and tackle projects! I don't know if I could do a rule of three- my brain keeps churning faster than my hands!

  3. And it's so good to have you back and showing us beautiful things :). I'm tackling my sewing room and it's getting much worse than better, hopefully it will come together at some point. I like the rule of three, focus is always good.

  4. I started to wonder if I were on someone else's blog. You are doing an amazing job of recovery.

  5. Good to see you making plans for the future after being stuck on hold there for a while. I've been doing something similar trying to get my UFO's pared down. For a while I had a bunch of them on the "back burner" and I've been moving them into the "in progress" pile as I finish things up. Now, they're all "in progress" and the back burner is empty. Still much to do, but it's good to make progress. Maybe by the end of next year...LOL

  6. So glad that you are getting your energy back. Great finish on your Autumn Jubilee banner! I like your rule of three things, it is often the max I have going at one time too. One in piecing stage, one on the quilt frame, and one for handwork.

  9. This shows what great strides you have been making. See, one day at a time, and poof, you are starting to jog now. You'll get used to your new 'normal', even if it is frustrating (of course it's frustrating). I'm still praying for even more recovery over the next few months. Miracles can still happen.

  10. So good to have you back, Debbie! I believe your attitude makes such a difference. I have been so impressed by yours.
I am also impressed with your plans and organization. Wish I could be so disciplined. I have just been patting myself on the back for actually maintaining my "No SALs (except Humble Quilts)" for the entire year so far!
Your rule of three puts me to shame. How about a rule of thirteen, or something like that? Doesn't have the same ring to it, I know. : )

  11. You did very well for the month. We are all so thrilled that we have you back into our quilty world. I love your rule of three and may have to incorporate that into next year.
