Slow week

I saw a poster on the Pernicious Anemia FB page.......it tells exactly how I feel this week.  I know many of you battle pain daily too.
This has not been a productive week on the sewing front.  I did a small amount of sewing more as a diversion than production.  Pain tends to do that to me and it has been one of those weeks.  Pain  is now prominent  in my feet.....I feel like the bones are exposed and the pains shoot up my heel and sole of my feet.  So walking and activity has been less.....and on top of that I have an evaluation for more physical therapy tomorrow.  Keep it in perspective.....I have sensation in feet and legs  where none was.  I believe this is part of the "reversing out" process of the nerves healing and connections being made.

I added 4 more blocks to the scrappy mountains on the design wall.  And I cut 4 more sets......I think that will be enough for this one.    Yet, I haven't made a dent in the floral fabrics......I am losing on that front.

Piper on "place" quilt

This pretty girl is Piper, my daughter's service dog.  Piper asked for a new "place" quilt.  When she is "on duty" Piper knows that she can keep watch from her quilt.   Piper goes to work at least 4 days each week....here she is keeping an eye on Mama while she is getting a check up at the doctors.

She requested one that is colorful and fun.   This one always reminded me of a party.......we will send it off today.

   Happy stitching.

  1. So the foot pain is a good news/bad news kind of thing. Sorry you are having to deal with that pain, Debbie, but grateful to know it means healing!
That you have done any sewing at all in the midst of this speaks volumes of your "warrior" attitude.
Have I missed something? Your daughter has a service dog? What is the condition that causes that need? My daughter has pondered getting a service dog for her son with seizures, but they have so many allergies to animal dander in their family. So what is their family pet? A hedgehog!

  4. Oh, like walking on broken eggshells with a tack or nail thrown in for good measure. Remember that pain, but it does go away and does mean things are regaining the norm. Hang in there sweetie. You are a wonderful doggie granma sending such a lovely quilt.

  5. I love the sign but they left out the freaking, LOL. I can't say we should celebrate the pain, but it really is a good thing and I'm happy to hear it. You're healing girl!

  6. While that foot pain is good news/bad news it is a sign of progress. And at least you are in a nice dry home! It's great that you had a quilt just waiting to send Piper.

  7. I'm a chronic pain survivor too, and so I can sympathize with the desperation and the desire for relief. Mine lasted five years, and then disappeared as mysteriously as it came. I hope that last sentence is a hopeful one because what I'm meaning to say is that it can and does get better, but it's so debilitating when you're living it. Take good care of yourself, my dear. Do what you can do comfortably and accept what you cannot change for now.

I didn't know your daughter had a service dog. She looks like a real sweetie & I know she will be happy to get her new quilt.

  10. You're a trooper to get anything done at all with that kind of pain. A little stitching does help though, doesn't it? Gives the mind something else to ponder for a while. Piper is a sweetie and I'm sure she'll love her new quilt :)

  12. Only just sitting and trying to catch up on posts so I was sorry to read that the pain has returned with a vengeance but on the other hand pleased to see that you now have some sensation in your feet and legs - good news. I love the poster!!!
I must have a look see if if there is anything on the sites I read.
Piper looks to be a honey and so lucky to have one of your quilts to rest on.

  13. I have thought over and over again of making this quilt - it doesn't leave my list for long so it must be in my destiny to make it LOL

  14. I love your scrappy mountains quilt and I'd say Piper is a pretty lucky pup. Didn't find this post until today. Don't know how I missed it. Stay safe from the storm.

  15. You have a very positive outlook. When I have nerve pain, it stops me, and I think well I can still feel. Then I think other people don't have the pain, but thinking like that is dangerous. Your quilts are terrific and the pup adorable.
