What???????????? Where did that zig-zag come from? I added the last column upside down and the design gets lost and that wiggly mess appeared. LOL, I need to laugh at myself. So I will be doing some ripping to get this mess figured out.
Lesson to learn.....when you are tired, quit sewing. Instead of rushing, take a break. Look twice before you sew.
We have had some visitors and such, so my routine has been a bit off. Things will fall back in place by month's end. Maybe by then I will have this thing fixed or done!
LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color sent me an email and photo of her finished small project using the Chandelier blocks she made. Click here for that post.
Perfect colors for the holiday week, it turned out so great.
Have a safe and fun July 4th.....lots of heat here, so I will be inside intead of outdoors this week. Happy stitching.
I think you could call it "snake in the garden" at this point. I know how the too tired sewing goes. I'm good friends with my ripper.
ReplyDeleteMy seam rippers are just like my reading glasses. I have them everywhere. Just got through buying yet another one yesterday!
ReplyDeleteOh, Mary!! I feel your pain! Take a break and enjoy the holiday.
ReplyDeleteKind of funny, you must have had a moment of confusion when you recognized it. I just finished sewing my OBW together. I was working with a fever all last week. Needless to say, I feel your ripping pain.
ReplyDeleteWe've all been there, I think - at least I know I have. Too tired or distracted - for whatever reason - not paying attention - and then I have a plan a play date with "Jack" - my seam ripper. We've become very good friends over the years - LOL - ;))
ReplyDeleteSounds like this is the week for frog stitching, rip-it rip-it! I was doing the same thing a couple evenings ago, I guess evening sewing is going to have to be hand applique or quilting - the machine is tired!
ReplyDeleteThese things happen to the best when we are "sew tired."
ReplyDeleteI hate it when that happens. I am sorry you are having to unstitch. That is quite a bit. I think I have spent more time with my seam ripper this year than ever before. I guess I get a little too confident.
ReplyDeleteOh No! I hate when things like that happen. And it happens to me when I'm not tired sometimes. But when I'm tired, it happens a lo moret. Hope you get it ripped out soon - I always hate going back to a project needing ripping. I'm glad you found it before this was sandwiched. Hope you are having a great time with visitors. Enjoy! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI laid out a quilt on my design "bed" to check the layout before sewing the rows together. I had worked on it at a quilt retreat, but hadn't been able to double check the row placements. Yup, I had switched to twos throwing off the design. Fortunately the rows were not sewn together yet, so it was an easy switch, so I'mm glad I did the double check. You'll get yours sorted out. Enjoy your 4th.

Oh nooo! Although the zigzag is rather interesting! I had to order another ribbit a couple of months back. I now consider myself a professional with that tool!
ReplyDeleteYou have just inserted a modern design element. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how I can relate to those "sewing tired" mistakes.
OMG! Words to the wise!
ReplyDeleteI did that pattern and it required a lot of moving around on the wall, and care with the final sewing to keep it in line. It's cool when done tho and pretty in your floral selection. LeeAnna
Sometimes we just have to laugh at ourselves! Glad you could find the humor in your "oops" sewing. Have a relaxing Independence Day, Debbie :)
ReplyDeleteSorry about that. I sewed the wrong color in the wrong place on a paper pieced block, and had to rip out my tiny stitches (30 stitches to the inch when I paper piece). Ripping isn't fun.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, that does NOT look like a fun time ripping!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, I must have missed this!!! What a nightmare task to sit and unpick.
