I met an angel today

  The season has rushed in upon me.  Some things got done, others left undone.  I thought I would be really making a lot of progress but instead I have only been limping along.

  I have been working on putting those crazy wonky courthouse steps blocks together.  They are in rows of 8 right now, with more to come.  I have to admit they really suit my mood and state of mind right now.  Nothing has to match....whether seam or color.....to make these work.

   This morning was a big disaster.  My plans were to bake 2 types of breads and then sew this afternoon.  Simple and pleasing.  Instead I got an alert from ATT that my usage was way, way over the limit.  HUH?

After 3 hours on the phone/chat with someone who lives who knows where, I final got transferred to someone who tried to help.  Another hour, and I was told to visit the store as the phone needed a physical fix.  A trip to the store front and the guy told me I needed a new phone.  He couldn't repair it.  Too many $$ and he walked off.  Believe me they won't like my survey answers.

  So we then headed to the Apple store at the mall.  Picture a completely full parking lot zoo, and suddenly a handicap parking space empties in front of you!  OK, something good here.  Unfortunately, the mall was a mass of bodies and I paniced in the middle of the food court.  By the time I got to the escalator to go down, I was having a total melt down/ panic attack.  Sir Old Man was not in much better shape at that point.
    A gentle soul, surely an angel sent to help us, was suddenly there.  She lead me to the side of the walk, got a chair,  and sent Sir Old Man for a coke.  She talked gently to me until things were under control.  Dallas was her name, and I doubt she will ever know what a magical moment of safety she gave me.  Thank you sweet lady.

  As for me, I am now home and phoneless for now.  Sir Old Man will venture to the Apple store tomorrow for help.

Tis the season for miracles and that angel was right where she needed to be! Wonderful! So sad to hear about your phone problems. I think we manufacture too many things with planned obsolescence and phones are so expensive. I do hope you get one tomorrow. My motto this year has become one day at a time and what gets doesn't get done, we'll just ignore. Take care. ~Jeanne

Debbie, I am so sorry for you having to go through such a painful experience just to replace a necessity. I always avoid the Apple store, either going to a local authorized dealer, or online. I have had lots of cell phone woes and am now using Tracfone, which most of the time gets it right unless the phone dies due to battery malfunction.
I hope you relax and feel better. I had part 2 of the shingles shot yesterday and was in bed all day with terrible joint pain and headache- just miserable. Hoping it subsides tomorrow. The first part was even worse.
Bravo to your angel.

Angels come when we least expect them but when we need them the most. I hope you're feeling better and Sir Old Man too. Sounds like a traumatic experience for you both.

How nice of her! Not sure if the Apple store does this but our AT&T store allows you to set an appointment online so that you don't have to wait when you go in. Is that a possibility? Good luck on the new phone.

Oh, you poor thing. Yes, Angels appear when you need them most even when not asking. I refuse to go to malls at any time, least of all during Holidays. I have a Tracfone as well and it works well for me. No highend, high price, stuff I don't need or use - very simple but always working.

I am happy to hear that an angel of mercy appeared when needed for you. I absolutely hate to go anywhere to shop this time of year. I don't like the crowds anymore.

I use an android phone and have an older "spare" in case something goes wrong.

Can you get a replacement phone online shipped to you so you wouldn't have to deal with the mall? So sorry you had such troubles, and I am glad someone was there at the right time for you. Take care!!

I also have panic attacks on occasion, so I totally understand how wonderful it was to have someone recognize what was going on and was there to help you. What a blessing...I hope you are better now and this phone issue gets resolved easily!

what a great story of connection. You allowed someone to show you kindness, which gave her a good experience too. Good energy is circular isn't it? I'd love to post your story link to my next Together Tuesday post of connection stories... if that's okay? I know it will impact others.
Your courage in sharing your real struggle openly will impact others who also have panic attacks too. Phones seem to be necessary but being phoneless for a moment is okay too.

Debbie, I am so sorry you had such a heartbreaking experience at the Mall, but the Good Lord saw you, and sent a very kind stranger to see you through this horrible experience. As someone who has suffered from panic attacks for over 30 years, I know full well what you were going through, and hope you don't have another full blown attack again. I have not set foot in a mall for over 20 years now, but unfortunately, you were there, at a time when thousands of crazy shoppers are going every which way, and pushed your panic button. Sending lots of hugs and wishes for a quiet and peaceful Christmas with your Sir old Man.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is nice to know there are still angels walking about (just not in Congress). I don't mall shop anymore and definitely not after Dec. 1. Not just because of the people crunch inside, but the crazy traffic outside as well. I've only had a phone for about two years and mostly use it to post to Instagram. My husband, OTOH, is addicted to his. Good luck finding a replacement. I have heard good things about Tracphone. Now go to the sewing studio and relax.

I'm so glad someone was there to help both of you! I don't think I know what a panic attack might look like. I'd be grateful if you'd email a list of possible things to watch for so maybe I could assist someone else in the same situation!

So glad to hear that an angel came to you & Sir Old Man just at the right time. I never (and I mean NEVER) go to the mall. It's probably been 25 years since I last set foot in one. Since I am terrible about orientation & direction, I get so turned around in the malls. I forget which door I came in & where my car is in the parking lot. UGH! That type of life is not for me. Hope your hubby can get the phone thing resolved quickly & easily. I have a pay-as-you-go little flip phone that works just fine for me. Hope you have a Merry Christmas full of joy & happiness!!!

Glad for the Angel, sorry for the melt down. Hope you have a phone now. My ATT store people are better at helping (but the wait is still long).
