Feeling better

    After 14 days, I think the pneumonia is done for.  I feel like I am going to be able to return to the living :)  The cough will probably stick around for another week or so according to the doctor.  But I am cleared to return to OT next week.  I have a lot of catching up to do, but to date I only have strength enough for chair exercises, and arm exercises using the one pound weight.

  The therapist called to say that she got approval from the doctors to try a UV light therapy on my hands.  The hope is that it will increase circulation and stimulate nerve activity.  She has lofty  goals for my OT and is looking for anyway to help my sense of touch/ or lack of touch sensation.

   Thank you all for the notes, and emails to check on me.  I was just too weak to
sit at the computer to reply.   I hope to gain strength each day and begin some progress.  That sounds wonderful to me.   By the way, my lofty goal is to return to the sewing room and be able to stitch a little.  That would be some good therapy:)

  1. Your header "Feeling Better" put a smile on my face. I'm so glad you are beginning to recover from the pneumonia now & your I can hear a lot of positive vibes from your post. It sounds like you are feeling much better. Your therapist sounds like a "keeper" & that she is really concentrating on getting you back to your healthy state. Prayers are still being lifted up from me for a quick recovery. {{{HUGS}}}

  2. Oh, I am so glad you see a light at the end of the pneumonia tunnel. That can be a long, dark one!!
    I am also grateful that you have a therapist that is looking for new options to help you restore sensation. Your lofty goal sounds great to me!

  4. So happy to hear 'feeling better' - don't over do as we don't want a relapse. Starting quilting was part of my OT from my car accident. Some of those movements in OT actually can be replicated with a sewing skill.

  6. Glad that the pneumonia is gone. Take 10 minutes a day, and sit or work in your sewing room. Don't over do it. Good luck with the PT.

  12. Yay!!! One step at a time and this is a big one. I like what Sharon said, maybe you can use quilting and sewing as part of your OT. I wonder if muscle memory would work there.

  13. Debbie, last night before going to bed, I was thinking about you, especially since you have not posted anything for a number of days, and began to worry, so I said a few extra prayers for you. This morning, there was your post, and I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better. You have been through so much, enough to last for a long, long time and will continue to pray for continued improvement and, eventually, total recovery. Hugs

    It must be so frustrating for you, but your doing so well and it is still relatively early days, so don't push too hard.

  17. Glad you are feeling better! Did you ask your doctor for some Tessalon for your cough? It got me through two bouts with pneumonia. It's the only way I could get some sleep. I'm not one for pills but they are a lifesaver! Take your time; we'll be here waiting for you. We understand.

I'm looking forward to that day when you are back in your sewing room. Even folks who are in good health must take time to regain their strength. It will come. We will be strong in faith with you as you walk this path.
