A Little Knot
I had 6 blocks that did not get put into my large Garlic Knot top. I thought they would be a good table topper.....A Little Knot.
Before binding, I was just a little disappointed at how plain it seemed. I debated on applique in the border or even adding additional borders. I went ahead an quilted it up and then had the light bulb moment for the binding.
A cute flange binding would give this one a pop of extra color and hopefully improve it after all. So the blue fabric became the flange and a floral print is the outer binding.
A Little Knot is 18'' by 24''.
Now I am more motivated to get the large Garlic knot pinned and quilted. I need to piece up some backing.....that always slows me down for some reason.
The water color wreath wall hanging is under the needle already. I have the center section quilted and just need to do up the border.
Then on to bigger things.
Happy stitching.
Talking about:
binding,
garlic knot quilt,
watercolor

A Little Knot is so cute. The flange was the perfect addition. I do love the garlic knot block. Thanks for introducing me to it. Hope you keep your electricity so you can sew through the storm. Stay Save. ~Jeanne
The floral binding with flange makes the whole piece pull together strong. The little quilt looks fresh and perky. Quilt under the needle looks very colorful.
Fabulous idea, and it sets off the blocks nicely!
I love the little knot and the flange was a great idea. By the time I get to the border on a quilt, sometimes I'm too hasty and don't do the best thing. Sometimes that small inner border would brighten up my quilts.....I'll have to slow down.
Great job!
I love the leaf motif you used in the border. Did you use a stencil?
A flanged binding always seems extra fancy! And using the floral as the outer piece frames your Little Knot so nicely :)
Looking at the Little Knot inspired me to fire up EQ and play with layouts. I found one that I really like.
Debbie, just wanted to say how good it is to see that you are feeling much better, as is evident in the amount of quilting and blogging you are now doing.
Hopefully, life will continue to follow this path for the foreseeable future. Hugs
I always get slowed down when it comes to piecing backing too. I think it is the thought of having to press such a large piece of fabric that does it for me but really, it doesn't take that long once I get started.
Great finish for the Little Knot! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished water color wreath! ---"Love"
I was just admiring garlic knots yesterday! Great idea of using up overages in a new quick and usefull project. very cool!
Little Knot is so cute. That is the perfect edge treatment, and the floral binding was a wonderful choice!
I have to say, if you had only had four blocks for this little quilt it could have been "A Square Knot". LOL
WHat a cute little piece to finish off your knots. Can't wait to see the color wash wreath.
A Little Knot is so sweet, I love your elongated leaves in the border. One of these days I must try a flanged binding, yours always look so good.
Cute topper! I've gotta try this flange one of these days. It adds a great touch!
Is the rain really hitting now?
Flange bindings are always cute.
