Catching Up

Fall arrived while I've been quiet.   Sir Old Man finished painting the shed and it looks really nice.    I spent one day digging out fall wall hangings and table runners.....and washing those that came down.   I changed out the mini to this pineapple, which is a favorite of mine.  I like the variation in textures from the quilting too.

I posted about the problem with my hands and wrists which slowed me down.  The season change and a few clear days with no rain etc. helped that.  So I managed to sew a little bit for a few days.  Some spool blocks and the leader and ender, Easy breezy.  I even ordered some storage boxes/bins for projects.

They were from Amazon, and a bit bigger than I thought.  At just over 3'' high they are more than enough for the spool blocks.  Then I started stacking the leader ender blocks and.....

Ok, I need the depth!   And I then filled one up with string blocks than were in a shoe box and rumpled.  So they got ironed and given a new bin.

I thought I was making headway, until I woke up one morning about 2 weeks ago with a very red, and swollen  left eye.  My good eye, not marred by the lack of B-12.  So off to the doctor.  He says it was a ruptured vessel between the tissue layers.  Could be from trauma or spontaneous.  Give it a few days to improve.
So tomorrow I return for another exam and check.  The redness is gone, but the vision is worse.  For example, we went out over the weekend to view the full moon and Mars.  I told Sir Old Man that I saw three dots, or Mars.  Which one is the real one?  Yep, I see triple images at certain angles.  I sure hope the doctor gives me a better explanation or I am searching for a new ophthalmologist.

So I have been quiet here, reading posts and keeping up as best I can.  Sewing time is limited to prevent  eye strain, neck strain , and general irritation.  I did begin joining the spool blocks into sets of 4 and seeing how they looked on the design wall.

Does anyone think blogger complaint department ever read our feed back?  Do they ever read any posts to see how they look?  This thing is so awful to use.  Just ranting about the useless new features that make writing a post difficult.  Another example of fixing what isn't broken.

Our mornings have been quite cool and crisp.  Time to go pick up some apples from the farm, and a good time for a road trip to view the leaves.  Maybe next week.  Happy stitching.

I am so sorry to hear of your woes, Debbie; not fun when your vision gets so impaired...I hope your visit to the doctor straightens this out for you...

I love your little spools--they are coming together so nicely!!
I really don't think that blogger (or google) reads any complaints at all!!
It isn't fun to post anymore--all the neat little things you could add were such fun and sparked creativity I think.
Now it's just the plain and b o r i n g look....

Take care and rest up...I totally get the neck and shoulder aches especially on rainy days...hugs, Julierose

Find the best retina specialist you can and don't wait. My eyes are always my biggest concern. I have glaucoma (inherited) and hold my breath every dr. visit.
Love the spool blocks- so much texture and value variety.
I wish I could find another platform to blog- now it will no longer work on my iPad- as the system can't be upgraded even though the tablet works fine, no more reading blogger on it.

Oh, Debbie, I am so sorry to hear about the eye problems. You know that will be a part of my prayers. I hope you do get some answers at your appointment!
I do like your pineapple quilt. As you say, the texture is great.
Those project boxes help so much in organizing and keeping track of UFOs, or WIPs. Sometimes I put 2 or 3 small projects in one bin, if there is room, but usually they get one project each.
The spool blocks are looking very good!
I don't know if anyone reads our complaints about the new blogger, but that doesn't stop me from giving them a list of issues every single time I post!! :)

I'm sorry to read about your eye and hand problems. Something no one wants, especially quilters. I love the spool blocks. There are so many pretty fabrics. I use a similar style of storage boxes for my projects. Since I never seem to finish anything, I am constantly buying more.

I do love that pineapple quilt, so much texture in the quilting enhances the gorgeous fruit. Simple blocks like your hourglasses so often make the most effective quilts. I lve the emphasis on the blues with a bit of yellow or gold here and there. So sorry to hear about your new eye issue, I hope the doctor can do something to alleviate it so your overall vision can improve.

I do love your pineapple; I can see why it is a favorite. I'm glad you found some storage bins to help organize projects. The vision problems are a real concern - I hope you get some good answers when you see the ophthalmologist. It's nice to have your hands better but you need your sight too. Praying for a good outcome. ~Jeanne

Oh, Debbie, I hope your eye dr. can come up with some help for you. I worry all the time about my good eye too since it takes over for the bad eye. I wonder if they will suggest injections. My mother had a ruptured artery in one eye and they suggested the shots to her but at 88 she refused them. I have had 3 shots and they did help the vision in my bad eye. I will be thinking about you and praying for the best outcome.

Sounds like you, like me, are suffering from a variety of health problems. Without your eyes, you can't do anything, so I pray your doctor will find a solution to that problem. Then maybe you can get some relief for your hand too. I hope so. I love your pineapple! ---"Love"

Oh, Debbie...I am so sorry you are having eye problems. I'm hoping your vision returns to normal quickly. I've always been fascinated by spool blocks, but have not started them yet. I use very similar, if not the same, project boxes.

Sorry for your troubles. Its a bummer when you can’t do the things you love. I really like your pineapple mini. Very cute.

Those storage boxes look nice. I may go looking for those.
Eye problems are always so concerning to those of us who are creative types. I am suddenly at the point of needing cataract surgery. But with Covid-19 issues, finding transportation to the appointments is problematic.
My best wishes for recovery.

I hope your eye isn't anything drastic. Nowadays they check with some super duper machine that will take photos of your eyes that look like the Martian landscape. Makes HRH queasy but I love looking at them. Also the machine does 3D imagery - which is also amazing. The glaucoma test with the puffer I do not like - makes me jump every time! LOL!

it's always something going wrong with our bodies isn't it? And blogger is a pain in the neck itself. Photos are hard to retrieve, definitely less useful than it was before they made changes. No they do not respond to feedback after asking for it. Your fabric colors, textures and patterns make your quilts so special. I love a new container!!
It's still in the 80's here but trees are dropping leaves. We still have rampant wildfires and lots of smoke so it doesn't feel like Fall did the last two years we lived here. Much hotter... so we sew. Mars has been astounding to see... and jupiter too. LeeAnna

We've been having beautiful weather here lately. Feels like Fall is coming early this year & makes me wonder if that means a much colder winter. Glad you found some new bins to store your projects. They look like a great size...not too big & not too small.
So very sorry to hear about your eye. I pray that your Dr. can resolve that problem quickly or that it just goes away on it's own.
It was good to hear from you today!

I love your spools as I love your floral quilts so much! I have one of those bins filled with florals old and new for my future projects. The bins stack well too. So sorry about your eye; and I hope you see progress soon.

The spool blocks are looking really good! And it's nice to have shiny new storage boxes, isn't it? Hoping for the best for your eye, Debbie.

We're both on a similar path once again Debbie!! I am just going to write a post shortly, my first in almost four weeks due to health issues. I'm so sorry to hear about your eye and do hope your ophthalmologist can sort things out for you as soon as possible.
On the quilting side of things I love the way your spool blocks are growing little by little, you have some luscious florals in there.
B logger - I thought I would re-vamp my blog a little but can't create the background colour I had before, the nearest one brings up a bright orange bar with Home and Waiting in the Wings listed but the headers for posts is a bright sky blue. I have played around for ages and all I have to show is an overall pinky lilac blog page so it's back to the drawing board!
Take care and best of luck with your eye!

Love how your spool blocks look on the design wall. Hope you find the doctor has good answers for your eye problem. Getting older has its problems on top of our world health problems. No fun.

Somehow I got distracted yesterday and never got around to adding a comment. I'm sorry your health issues continue to increase and dearly hope your eye doc can help with your vision. I know how much your quilting means to you and it's hard to quilt when you can't see clearly AND your hand don't work. As far as the new blogger goes, it seems like Google has decided to abandon long-time blog writers who use desktops and maybe laptops in order to cater to the mobile crowd. I have found that the two groups have distinctly different styles and I have enjoyed seeing both, but I fear my favorite long-time bloggers may just give up in frustration and we will lose some valued voices in the craft.

I've never gotten a reply from blogger, so I doubt they care, unfortunately. Love that pineapple quilt. Hope your eye is better by now.

I got so fed up with blogger that I recently switched to WORDPRESS. Still free and intuitively easy to use....just a thought.
