Runner and wall hanging for Fall

According to the Almanac, fall has begun.    I do wish our weather listened to them ;)  Temps in the mid 90s is not conducive to anything but staying inside! But I went ahead and pulled out a few wall hanging and runner to at least remind me of fall days.

Then this morning I read Carole's post at From my Carolina Home.  Her Autumn Jubilee begins today.  You should jump on over and check out what she has going on......and all her sponsors this year.   Patterns, inspiration, and prizes!

This runner was made from her patterns during the Jubilee  a few years ago!

I only made a couple of blocks of each one and then "made up " a border of odd pieces I had in the leftover bin.  But  it all worked together.   And I love how it fits the new cabinet just perfectly.

This is one of my favorite fall wall hangings....from 2016!    This year I am using on the pantry door.  The link for the pattern still works.....Pineapple from Havel sewing.   So grab it if you are interested.

Not a lot of new sewing got done this month.  Sorting though things,  I found more leftover parts.....actually I have 2 bins of those.  But there were enough HST of the same size that I decided to turn them into pinwheel blocks.  I am waiting for more inspiration on this.  I think it needs a wider border and then a round of something/anything....we will see.

But......I got bit by the Bonnie String Scrap bug again yesterday.  I had already played around with the wonky version using mixed sizes of strings for the court house block.  And made a start on a few others.  And then this morning she posted a full tutorial for the Crooked Courthouse Steps.   So you can guess what I may be working on for a while.  Actually they are quite easy which is really good for me right now.

Happy stitching.

Interesting - I saw Bonnie Hunter's Crooked Courthouse Steps a while ago (before her tutorial) and started playing around. My quilt will end up to be rather uniform but her block was my inspiration. Today we have cooler temps (in the 50s) but our rain will not stop. The weather is weird everywhere :( Keep cool! ~Jeanne

I need to pull out my fall decorations too, even if our highs are still mid-90s. Bonnie's latest tutorial looks like fun, but I've been trying to avoid the temptation to start something new.

We even saw 89 degrees briefly yesterday afternoon, low 60s now after a warm and humid morning. Bonnie's courthouse steps blocks are calling my name too, though it will be the new year before I can get started.

Well, it was 81 briefly yesterday, but now is 55. Lots of rain. Perfect for setting up a quilt show, not. Today it was the racks, tomorrow up go the quilts. I just love your autumn work. Every year I say I am going to make something and then it is Christmas before you know it. Glad to see you working away.

We have been unseasonably cold this week--highs in the 50s. We should shake up our two temps and spill out a happy medium.
You have pretty things going on, as usual. I am curious to see how you end up finishing your little pinwheel piece.

Still wet and windy here, although yesterday was nice so it was clean out the ducks day and weeding. It is supposed to be sunny today too, but it isn't and another deluge is about to hit us - thankfully I looked at the radar first thing and cleaned the chickens out. The joys of the outdoors! So I have an enforced curfew and have made a strict rule - no sewing until the sewing room and fabrics have been sorted and tidied. Which has resulted in a much better system and am happy with the way things are going - and now I'm inundated with comic book boards - which will be used when the larger yardage is gradually used too. Well that's the theory!
Bonnie's courthouse steps looks really good all finished up - I'm sure yours will be super too - I just don't have enough strings yet - but they are definitely growing. Still have the floral trips border to do, but all ready for action. The mystery quilt from last winter still needs a border or two and I need to get cracking on that too - it is destined to be an engagement present for my daughter - by the time I finish it, she'll be married! Oh dear!!!

Rochester, NY set a record high of 88 degrees on Wednesday, but we're now in the 50's with rain since yesterday and possible frost predicted for Fri night/Sat morning. I do like Bonnie's courthouse steps scrappy quilt, but I need to finish up some other projects before I start another one, especially one that will have scraps scattered everywhere.

Your decor for the season looks great! You're right that it doesn't feel like fall yet, though. We're in Illinois, heading for Kentucky, and the trees are still green green green :)

I really like your fall table runner. It's so nice when things go together so well even if they weren't planned. Sir Old Man did a fantastic job on the new cabinet. He is such a master at his woodwork. We are still having hot temps here but the weatherman has given us hope for a "cool" front on Tuesday.

I like the pinwheels. It's finally gotten chilly here. I'm ready for fall weather.

Cool and rainy here with talk of snow in NW KS by Friday. It has me thinking I need to get some outdoor stuff done asap! Thanks for sharing the Autumn Jubilee. The quilts and table runners have my attention so I'll be following along.
