Week one: I am usually at home, so little change there for me. Unfortunately, we ventured out just before the panic grew and got the second shingle shot. Yep, it did me in! I was down for three days with fever and chills and aches. Day 2, I thought I would not survive but by day 3, I knew I would. Gained some strength and drank lots of fluids and soup.
Week Two: Some small sewing done, and some pinning to prepare for quilting. The world and country and state are in full panic mode. I fear our world is forever changed. I have read the articles, used discernment and found a small ray of hope. The researcher who had some divine inspiration to skip the vaccine and develop antibodies for treatment is awesome! This treatment could mean a shorter bout of this virus. Otherwise it could mean dealing with this thing for over a year.
So for today, I hope to get a project under the needle and not give in to panic. I did see the pattern floating around for making masks.....that brings me to tears. Right now, I can not deal with it.
Instead I chose to be thankful that I can be calm, to be grateful that God is in control, and I am grateful my family is safe.
Sew on.....

You got it right! God is still in control! Your post is very special. When you first showed us your beautiful quilt that is shown again today, I printed the picture and taped it to the corner of my laptop so I will see it every morning. It is such an encouragement to me! I'm home-bound most of the time, so I really don't need to worry about the world situation; I can't do anything about it anyway, but God can. So I'm just going to continue to pray, asking Him to heal the entire situation. I know He can, and will, in His own time! ---"Love"
I'm all about building antibodies! Amen!
Well, we known panic doesn't help. I think the best is to shelter in place. Illinois is closing at 5 tomorrow. At that point we will only have grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, medical offices and only when needed. The governor said we'll have the basics available if needed but he really wants people to stay home and we are welcome to go outside but no where close to other people. So we join California and New York with a stay-at-home order. Interesting times. Quilting does help me - it is really my therapy now. ~Jeanne
Well, I know all about bad 2nd ( and first) shingles shot. Yikes, so sorry. Do not panic. We will get through this. Think about what each of us can change in our minds and hearts while home bound. Your quilt posted today is just fantastic. Keep fabric dancing in your head and gratitude in your heart. So grateful for you.
Be calm, take heart, and be grateful for each new day. You're doing all the right things. We in New York state are in nearly total shutdown with only essential services still operating. No church services for the time being, though I may go down there to pin a couple quilts one day next week. It'll be only myself there, and the calm reassurance of God's mercy will still my spirit.
It is such a challenging time, isn't it?
So sorry you had to deal with the setback from the vaccine on top of everything else.
The sentiment on your beautiful quilt is very timely advice for us all.
Praying for your peace and well-being, my friend.
My hair appt was cancelled Wednesday since the hairdresser got Shingles. I had it when I was 13. Stay safe.
Thanks for your encouraging words. Yes God is in control and panic will not change anything. I am taking all the precautions I can and hoping to stay well. I am happy you are feeling better from your shingles immunization. My co-worker just had her first and she didn't feel well for a day or two either.
I have not had a shingles shot yet.... I didn't realize I could get it under my insurance until your post prompted me to check (our prescription insurance changed this year.)
Now I have to consider getting it.
It is a good time to work on our long term projects, and do some small things for charity. Stay well!!
Sorry to hear about your episode with the shingles shot because it's a live vaccine and a no-no for my immune system.
I agree our world is most definitely changed Debbie, hopefully we can keep safe and ride all this out, thousands will not. Yes, lots of posts about masks but I have read and listening to specialists who say that they're not going to stop us from catching this virus, we would need very specialised ones.
Thank goodness we have our sewing even if we're only able to spend a short now and then.
Stay safe!
