More of---- life is different

I said our world was different last week, and this week I experienced it.  My consult evaluation with the rheumatologist was this week.  The office had confirmed the appointment and I had planned to go.  By Monday, I was hesitating.....so when the office wanted to switch to a phone appointment, I agreed.  Then early Tuesday morning, they switched to a video appointment.  That meant setting up the old laptop with a camera capability, which had never been used.  (My desk top  does not have one.)   It took a bit of fritzing about but we got there.
It was a bit strange having a doctor examine your hands and wrists via internet and discuss options.  But this may be the future for a while.  It was decided that any medications were not an option for me.  The meds offered are too toxic and would probably only worsen my other problems.  So, much as I expected.  I will learn to live with this rarer form of osteoarthritis.

So some limited sewing since last week.
I worked on the wall hanging and got it quilted.  I am searching the stash  for binding, but not liking what I find.  I will dive deeper and see if I can do better.
   Stay safe and sew on.

So sorry that the appt did not give any treatment options. Proud of you for persevering in the setup for the video conference. The wall hanging is such a beautiful floral. The sun is shining today and almost reaching 50, so it is a great day for a walk.

Can you imagine what our foremothers would think if someone told them that one day their descendants would have a rectangle thingy in their home where they could see people from miles away and talk to them face to face without leaving home? We live in an age of great challenges and great miracles!
Sorry there is no viable treatment option for you, Debbie. Pain is a poor companion. You know you have me as a prayer warrior!
In spite of it all, you continue to create beauty!

Every day brings something different. I am so sorry that you have to just live with this but I know you will persevere. All of the children here are in online school and many parents are stymied. I guess we'll all learn as we go along. Glad you are enjoying sunny weather. Take care! ~Jeanne

I am so sorry. We are so accustomed to hear about quick cures for so many things, we come to expect it. Alas, it is not always possible. I don't really believe we are promised a trouble free life. Much as I would like to have one.

I too am sorry there wasn't a better answer for you but maybe one will come yet. I've been a little fascinated with the online dr appts--listed as only $20 from our dr's office and it seems so convenient!. Yes, things are changing!

I was interested to read of your virtual appointment with the rheumatologist but I am sorry that there is no medication than can be given to you right now.
We are so lucky that we have our quilting, even though we can perhaps only work in short bursts and you have made it through the quilting stage of your beautiful wall-hanging - good luck with the binding.

The video appt is quite interesting. We have a "teledoc" option with my insurance for some types of issues. I have not yet used it but it is looking like that may be the best option in this situation.

Hopefully the treatment options will change in the near future and you can have some non-toxic relief.

My husband was diagnosed with RA in 1976. He has taken just about every med they have come up with. He has so many other health issues, monitoring all of them is a full time job. I just caution you to not take Nsaids due to their effect on the kidneys.

Love your wall hanging. It's so COLORFUL!!

video appts are a miracle.
BTW My friend went on meds for that, and they lowered her resistance so much she couldn't recover from a cold, and the worst happened. Work needs to be done, research on the condition and meds as it strikes so many people, but meds aren't the only answer. I so wish you had access to a qualified acupuncturist like the one I had in MD. He was able to alleviate symptoms for so many people, but then we're in dark times at the moment, when treatments are as dangerous as the afflictions. Good luck my friend.
Oh, just thought about my friend who changed her diet to lower inflammation and it worked for her. Stringent but worth it to her.

It really is amazing that you were able to "see" your doctor via video. And I'm doing my best to be grateful that we all have stashes deep enough to keep diving into for inspiration. I hope you find just the right binding, buried like pirate treasure :)

I wish the doctor's appointment would have produced better options for you. My hubby has a phone appointment set for April 24 with his doctor. We don't have internet set up for a "face to face" appointment & glad his doc. will visit him via phone now.
Your wall hanging is beautiful & glad you are still finding joy in sewing.
Take care & stay safe as I continue to pray for you & your family. {{{HUGS}}}

These are weird times, at least you had camera access. So sorry that there wasn't more that could be done for you. Hang in there.

I'm supposed to take my client to his Coumidin clinic appt on Wednesday. We'll see if that gets cancelled. They can't check that by phone or video. Going out to the clinic, around all those other people makes both of us nervous. At least at the grocery store, I can avoid aisles that have more than one person on them, and keep me and my basket away from others. Stay safe. Wish there was something that they could do for you.
