Hazy Monday

I intended to take photos outside this morning before the day got away from me.  But the smoke and haze from the wild fires north of us in NC put a damper on that idea.  We are at a lower elevation, and the mountains have a down slope effect that carries the haze from the fires to us.   The burning wood smell is blanketing everything.   Counties and towns are being evacuated, and arson is suspected.  We are all desperate for rain....a good soaking rain would be so welcome.

So I snapped a photo inside......
Pineapple Blossoms got sewn into rows over the weekend.  I added 2 plain borders to bring the size up to 45'' by 64''.   I am feeling the borders are too plain, but not sure if applique will distract from the center.    I will hang it up on a hanger for now----that will give me time to think about it and search out some ideas.

A few string blocks, some applique and this table topper came together too.  The applique will get stitched down, and maybe some easy stipple quilting.

For my finale......some flying geese units were sewn together just to see how wild they could be.  These are cut with the Go! Accuquilt and are 3 1/2'' by 6 1/2''.  Big fat geese will make a good donation quilt...lol.  I love the accurate cutting that makes for easy sewing.
This afternoon I hope to start stitching on that water color banner.  Once the rows are sewn, I will decide on applique accents.

Happy stitching.

Sorry to keep reading about all those awful fires. I will never understand the thrill that an arsonist gets. Or any other criminal for that matter. But so, so happy to read about you stitching so much!! Just keep bringing more beauty into this world with your art.

I literally had just commented to my husband that my eyes were really burny and tired, but I had just spent 3 hours outside in the fire haze that has filled our end of this little valley here in northeast TN. There are wildfires in our area too, and we are definitely in drought here. I had no idea you were in the NC area. Do tell, please, LOL where art thou, oh Sister? :D Love the quilt top that you just finished. And I'm in a Flying Geese obsession right now. :/

I've read about the fires and know so many near all the areas - fingers crossed all fair well. Rain would be wonderful for you folks. You are playing with so many happy things - let that 'pineapple' talk to you.

Wow--sounds like a rough time with those fires!
Pineapple blossoms looks really good--those white borders make room for lots of feathers. : )
Love that pretty little table topper.

I like the plain borders since there's so much color and texture with the blossoms. Your table topper is really cute, I like the flower. Did you cut the petals with the Go? Be careful going outside, we go through that every few years when the Everglades burn and that air is bad, we don't want you compromising all of the good you've been achieving.

Glad you stuck with the Pineapple Blossoms. It looks great. We have friends in Asheville and so far they are okay. Such a helpless feeling when fires, floods, etc occur.
